    Sounds like an ideal situation to me. I have recently found a very nice chateau at £5.5million, so send me the application forms immediately so that my £6.6million mortgage can be approced in principle!

    I saw the headline with disbelief and dismay – thought I’d been so clever with the timing of my purchase (and mortgage which you arranged) last year. So quite relieved that is was a poisson d’Avril!
